Skills and Core Proficiencies

In LOR, proficiency is used for 3 catagories


Core Proficiency

Core Proficiency refers to the core features used by a LOR chatacter. Most are combat related. For more details about them. Refer to their individual page.



Dodge

Dodge refers to the ability to avoid direct attacks. For more information on specific mechanics, refer to Combat

You calculate dodge by

8 + dexterity modifier + dodge proficiency modifier




Armor

Armor refers to the ability to use armor effectively to reduce incoming damage. Refer to combat for specific mechanic

Armor value is calculated by:

Armor score + Armor Proficiency modifier.


Perception

Perception refers to the ability to spot or hear potential danger.  Refer to the perception and stealth section for more.

Perception modifer is calcualted:

Wisdom + Perception modifier tier + half level.


Initiative 

Initiative refers to how fast one can get ready for combat. Refer to the Initiative section in combat.


Class DC

Class DC refers to what your DC for when your class demands a saving throw.


Reflex Save

Refers to how one can avoid damage. Refer more to saving throw section.


Fortitude Saves

Refers to how well the body can absorb harm. Refer more to saving throw section.


Will Save

Refere to how will the mind can resist harmfull effects. Refer more to saving throw section.


Basic Skill Proficiency

Basic Skill Proficiency refers to the skills often used for roleplaying. This are normal skills that can gain proficiency or increase proficiency in default proficiency increase.


Acrobatics (DEX)

Animal Handling (WIS)

  • Managing, calming, or training animals, and maintaining control during stressful or chaotic situations.

Arcana (INT)

  • Handling Magical Items: Safely using and understanding magical artifacts and tools.
  • Spellcraft: Recognizing, analyzing, and crafting spells or magical effects.
  • Arcane Detection: Sensing and identifying magical energies, auras, or disturbances.
  • Handling Magical Creatures: Handling or interacting with magical creatures.
  • Arcane Theory: Understanding the principles, laws, and mechanics of magic and arcane forces.

Arts (CHA)

  • Acting: Performing dramatic roles or imitating others convincingly.
  • Dancing: Captivating others through rhythmic and graceful movements.
  • Musical Instruments: Playing and mastering musical instruments to create harmonies and melodies.
  • Drawing and Painting: The ability to create pieces of art
  • Singing: Using one’s voice to create melodies and entertain.
  • Oratory: Inspiring or captivating an audience through eloquent speech.
  • Comedy: Entertaining others through humor, wit, and comedic timing.

Athletics (STR)

Charm (CHA)

  • Allure: Using seduction and attraction to persuade or influence others.
  • Style: Making an impression through fashion, elegance, or personal flair.
  • Persuasion: Convincing others through reason, emotion, or authority.

Deception (CHA)

  • Bluff: Convincing others of falsehoods through confident and persuasive communication.
  • Disguise: Altering appearance or mannerisms to mislead or avoid recognition.

Insight (CHA/WIS)

  • Understanding people’s emotions, intentions, or motives through observation or intuition.

Investigation (INT)

  • Looking for clues, analyzing areas, people, or situations.

Linguistic (INT)

  • Mastery of languages, including learning, deciphering, and translating written and spoken words.

Local Instinct (WIS)

  • Adapting quickly to unfamiliar environments, understanding local customs, and navigating social dynamics.

General Knowledge(INT)

  • For Knowledge checks that are unable to fit into any category. You cannot be proficient in this skill, unless stated otherwise.

Lore (INT)

  • Finance: Knowledge of economics,commerce,  trade, and monetary systems.
  • Geography: Understanding the physical features, landmarks, and terrain of various regions.
  • Geopolitics: Awareness of political relationships, conflicts, and strategies among nations.
  • History: Study of past events, civilizations, and their cultural significance.
  • Nature: Familiarity with plants, animals, and natural ecosystems.
  • Planes: Knowledge of other planes of existence and their relationship with the material world.
  • Religion: Understanding deities, rituals, and theological principles.

Memory (INT)

  • Recalling and processing information with accuracy and clarity. DM note: This is more for like, if the player does something they clearly would not do if they remembered smth, this could come in handy

Sleight of Hand (DEX)

  • Performing nimble, precise movements, such as pickpocketing or manipulating objects unnoticed.

Stealth (DEX)

  • Moving silently and avoiding detection through careful planning and control.

Survival (WIS)

  • Navigating and enduring harsh conditions, foraging for resources, and ensuring safety in the wilderness.

Technology (INT)

  • Understanding and applying knowledge of mechanical and technological systems effectively.
