In LOR we recommend a specific way for legend points to be used so as to tailor it to each player. While the previous rule was designed as generic optional rule. We recommend this rule instead of or in addition. This is designed to greatly roleplay, give each character a sense of being unique
In the end of the day, the GM decides how far he/she wishes to use this rule.
Iconic acts refer to actions that are pre-determined by the GM and player. It is highly encouraged that the GM and player discuss what actions constitute it.
This is based on the Iconic Strength and Iconic flaws of a character written down in the chatacter sheet. The GM and player should then come to consensous on what constitutes an Iconic Act.
An Iconic act can be postive and detrimental. LOR recommends a 1.5 to 1 ration in favour of positive and deterimental acts. These acts should be well defined and can be as simple as killing a specific creature in a specific way(for example with a certain martial mastery ability). These should not be very easily achieved, but rather something that players have to work towards.
A player actively roleplaying should only trigger 3 Iconic Acts in a 5 hour session on average. If on average a player is earning more, the GM should consider restricting the Iconic Acts.
Iconic Acts should be specific and unique to the character and its story.
Acts of Legend refers to special legendary actions the GM and player can discuss and come to conclusion on in cost and what it does. This could be an ability or spell that already exist in game. This acts of legend should be unique to a player character and be comparable to legendary actions or abilities/spells that are available at that level.
GMs are encourage to use and modify the legend point system. There could be negative points, or they could gain more points, or passive effects. However LOR recommende such modifications be made as a party wide agreement.
