Elfs
“Many among us despise the Elf’s for their actions, we believe that they do not deserve to be among us, that they are an untrustworthy race that deserves nothing. But is that really true? Do we fear that perhaps they will eclipse us soon? For all their flaws, they have accomplished what we have failed to do, to unite their entire race under a single leader. Their skill in magic surpasses ours despite having existed for only a fraction of the time we have. If they are able to do so much in only so few years, what is to say what they can accomplish? For that, they are a threat far bigger to humanity than the stagnant dwarfs, the dwindling dragons or the power of the dead.” Advisor to the Emperor before the sundering of the Elfs
The youngest amongst the major races, Elfs are rarely found outside their communities and cities. Unlike the other races who were created by the god, Alluradin, Elfs were indeed created by the goddess Lirineonix. Elfs are unmatched in their magical prowess and have reflexes few can match. A series of brutal wars with men and dwarfs have left both sides with a distaste and anger towards each other. While the Elfs have never really forgiven the wars which tore their race apart and nearly sent them extinct, they are willing to engage in diplomacy though they are more than ready to strike if that fails and tolerate no tresspases or provocations. Elfs are often obsessive and single minded in nature, often failing again and again until they are all but masters in their fields of studies. Elfs are often viewed as enigmatic, cold and deceitful and they are slow to trust non-elfs. Those who gain the trust of an elf find that they can be expressive , often eager to teach and noble. They are rarely found outside Elven territory and those that do are met with discrimination, suspicion and scorn.
All Elf’s are ruled by the Phoenix Queen,an Elf who is considered the avatar of Lirienoix, the goddess responsible for the Elf’s creation. This is regardless of whether either a Wood or High Elf though the Wood Elf’s view the Phoenix Queen more as a spiritual leader than one responsible for political decisions.
Biology:
Elf’s are tall slender humanoid creatures. They often have an average height of 1.7 to 2.0 metres in height. They weigh around thirty to fifty kilograms. There is no telling the maximum age of an Elf, for the oldest Elf to have ever lived continues to live to the present day. Many Elf’s do choose to voluntarily pass away around five to eight hundred years, their minds and hearts yearning for peace, tranquillity or simply having no more motivation in life. When that happens, an Elf soul, usually bright and vibrant, withers away and is eventually claimed by the gods. Namely Ashenya, Lirienoix or Airlorin who are the gods(or in this case goddesses) who were heavily responsible for the Elves existence . Elf’s under horrible conditions often lose the will to live and pass on. This has known to happen under brutal enslavement , torture or rape where the Elf would simply pass on instead of letting themselves be subject to such treatment
Elfs are extremely elegant creatures with reflexes that few can match. Their bodies and souls are also highly magical in nature which grants them great talent in the arcane arts. Elf’s also have a strong bond with nature and animals. Elf'sw ften move with uncanny grace and speed, they are highly athletic in part thanks to their extremely light weight, they are known to be able to run from tree to tree and leap far distances.
There is little difference between male and female elf and sometimes a quick glance is insufficient to tell each apart. Neither stand out in particular areas though it is often said that female elf are more agile than their male counterparts.
Despite many physical similarities, Elf’s are easily separated from humans. The beauty and grace of an Elf can be unsettling to many. Their looks give an uncanny alien look that separates them. They also have pointy ears not unlike Gnomes and Tieflings
Elf’s are highly sensuous and intelligent people with honed minds and keen instincts. The mind of an Elf is often restless and can be obsessive at times as such Elf’s since the dawn of time have practised meditation as a common practice.
Elf’s reproduce similarly to most creatures but have been known to successfully mate only with humans. However they also have mated with Nymphs of the deepwoods. However Elf’s conceptualise love and sex very differently from the other races.
About Nymphs: While the true origin of Nymphs are not fully understood, there is without a doubt that they are Elvish in nature. Some believe they were a sacrifice or gift made by the Wood Elves that forged their deep bond with the deepwood, with their own kind, being turned to the goddess of nature’s own guardians and servants. Others believe they were a compromise struck between Lirineoix and Arilorin during the creation of the Elves, giving Arilorin her own servants from Elvish blood in exchange for her assistance in creating the Elvish race. Some even whisper the first phoenix queen’s sister were some of the first Nymphs ever made. The truth some Elven scholars believe is perhaps a mix of all these tales and there are truths and falsehoods both. Whatever the case may be, it cannot be denied that both Elves and Nymphs have had a strong bond over the years, with offsprings produced with unions between both sides.
History:
Unlike most of the races of Allurian, the Elf’s were not created by a joint effort by the gods as was the way in the first and second seeding. Many of the gods opposed the creation of the race and refused to assist Lirineoix who wished to create the Elven race as a means to bolster the defences of the mortal races and believing that contrast was needed against the stout, traditionalist dwarfs and with humanity a race to corruptible.
Yet to create a race Lirienoix needed the support of many of the gods. Many refused and fought against it and despite the support of many of the gods and goddesses most notably Arilion, goddess of nature, it seemed as if the creation of the Elf’s would not happen. Then a deal was struck between Ashenya, goddess of the shadow and so came the Elf’s.
Unlike the other races, Elves are descendents of the Eldarin, fey creatures of the Feywild who once acted as agents and stewards of the land of Lirienoix and Airlorin. Their race had been long lost since the end of the war against the Varduin for most had died out.
The Elfs were created on the Aurion Isles, a piece of magically shrouded landmass, They developed at an incredible pace and were quick to realise their creation. Lirineoix helped guide the Elfs as they grew and even channelled her power into an avatar, an elf she deemed worthy. She, Nymiron Alyrien would be the first of the Phoenix Queen.
The Rule of the First Phoenix Queen Nymiron Alyrien
Nymiron Alyrien was the first of the Phoenix queens. What is surprising is that she was not the first of the Elf’s founded in the third seeding. Rather she was born to two Elves who originated from the first seeding. At that time the race of Elf’s were a peaceful rapidly developing race. Nymiron was no special elf at first glance however, she had shown promise in the still developing society of the elf’s but it seemed nothing special. Yet one day barely more than girl, Nymiron disappeared while exploring the woods of Ulthrion and did not return. Filled with worry her parents along with groups of the elf’s tried to find her yet they could, not a single trace of Nymiron could be found for a full year. Yet one day she returned, outwardly nothing had changed though everyone could tell that everything had. She glistened with magical energy that all could sense, Liriroeix had reached out to her to and chosen her as an avatar. Her parents feared that Nymiron herself was no more, her body an empty shell to be a god's avatar, but while changed, Nymiron still retained everything she knew.
The Elfs immediately knew that Nymiron had been chosen by their goddess which they had worshipped almost as soon as they developed the basis of their language. Many chose her to be their leader,a burden which her people and Lirienoix had entrusted onto her
The rule of Nymiron was characterised by rapid development among the Elf’s with Lirineoix guidance, the Elves skill in the arcane was unprecedented, what had taken man and dwarfs hundreds of years to even comprehend was learned by the elf’s in a fraction of the time. Cities rose all across the Aurion Isles as the race of Elf’s grew rapidly.
Nymiron encouraged her people to reproduce and as such the population of Elf’s more than doubled in the first half of her reign. Nymiron would marry at the age of fifty, extremely young by current elven standard to a Elf named Caildron Nilthar and together they had nine children, setting an example for her people. The Elf developed and refined their language, developed sophisticated culture, became excellent craftsmen and smiths. For hundreds of years, the progress the elven society made was extraordinary. With their entire race under one ruler, there was no petty conflict to slow progress, only the desire to perfect their society.
When the first elven vessels landed on the shores of Naskrim at Sea Dragon Point, that was when it all changed. Initial meetings were met with curiosity, surprise and caution but trade soon opened up especially with House Whitefyre of Sea Dragon Point who soon became a close ally of the Elfs. Elvish goods proved to be extremely popular and relationships established with the different kingdoms of the Empire were met with suspicion at worst but often was met cordially. Soon the Empire requested that the Elves join the Empire. Negotiations would take two years, spearheaded by Nymiron herself but at the end, the Elves of Allurian were now part of the Empire.
Many Elves freely migrated to Cadmir, Rodan and most notably Naskrim out of a sense of curiosity and wanderlust. Nymiron in fact encouraged it, believing such an action would both strengthen their relationship with the Empire but also allow her people to see vast new lands.
Within two hundred years of the Elfs joining the Empire, it was said that more Elfs lived outside the Aurion Isles than on it.
When the War of the Second Great Alliance came to be, the Elf’s had few military forces capable of assisting. Nevertheless, Elven spellcasters proved invaluable in the war, helping the Empire gain magical superiority over the undead forces. In fact in the final battle of the war, it was an Elven wizard who led the ritual to banish Vecna.
For a long time after thatwar while it seemed as if the Elf’s would grow and flourish unopposed. Yet many soon grew jealous of Elvenkind and when the Dragon Wars broke out, the relationship between the kingdoms was tested. The Elf’s send mages and scholars to assist the Empire in dealing with the dragon threat. However, as they did so they soon found many of the Metallic dragons friendly to the Elves. When news reached the Aurion Isles, many Elfs wished not to harm the dragons and as such many of the Elves sent were told to arrange treaties with the Chromatic dragons.
Yet it all came crashing down when the Elves misled the dwarfs to break a gold metallic dragon out of a dwarven trap. The Elves were slaughtered and immediately sent angry messages sent by the Empire to the Aurion Isles. Nymiron would have no chance to diffuse the situation as the Empire declared the Elves out of the Empire and declared war against them.
The Elf’s would lose tens of thousands in the war, slaughtered indiscriminately in Imperial land. Many others fled, a genocide against the Elven race was waged on an unprecedented scale. Tens of thousands of Elf’s died and others fled. Others were brutally treated and subject to horrible treatment before they ultimately died. Though a silver lining was that many metallic dragons did make their way to the Aurion Isles for protection
With little military, Nymiron could only ask for a complete withdrawal of all Elf’s to the Aurion Isles. Yet a message from her brother, Eldiron came asking for her to send those who could not flee into the deepwood. And so many did, fleeing into the deepwoods of Laurolen and Atolrian. There were sporadic victories by the small Elvish military forces such as the Bladeguard but otherwise only defeat came to pass.
By the end of the Sundering, an estimated five percent of the Elven population had been killed with thirty percent fleeing to the deepwood. When the war ended, the Elven race had been decimated. Nymiron had been so overwhelmed by the events and with her husband killed during the sundering, it all took a toll on her and Lirirneoix began to call her back. Nymiron at the advice of her oldest daughter began to militarise the Elf. When the Second Elven war began, the Elf despite their best efforts were too badly outnumbered by the Empire. Thanks to the natural defences of the Aurion Isles and the aid of metalic dragons were the Elf’s able to beat back the Imperial forces abeit at great cost.
before she eventually was called by Lirienoix. Nymiron had led the Elf to a great civilisation but it was now time for her daughter Lasindril to ensure that it would be a civilisation that would survive.
The Rule of the Second Phoenix Queen Lasindril Alyrien
Lasindril’s rule began amidst the chaos of the end of the second Elven war. Immediately Lasindril knew that the Elves must immediately dedicate themselves to their survival. She reached out to her cousin and uncle in the deepwood who have managed to create the wood elves. The Wood Elves did recorgnise Lasindril as their queen but Lasindril had to accept that the deepwood realms were equals.
Immediately Lasindril began militarising and began to search for alliances. She opened up the isles amidst only the city of Laedrilon. While trade resumed, the Elf’s used it to try and learn how to build a military capable of holding the Isles. Lasindril was able to recruit many to assist in that effort thanks to skillful diplomacy and negotiations. Fortunately for the Elf’s, the Empire was too heavily distracted allowing the High and Wood Elves to rebuild what was lost. Eventually the Elves were able to recover a large majority of their lost population. Lasindril also incentivised the Elves to focus on the construction of their large cities on Sindrion and Laedrilon. Eventually two great elven cities grew amidst the Aurion Isles. Meanwhile like their kin on the isles, the Wood Elves too rebuild themselves, they build great cities intertwined with the woodland realms. In both Laurolen and Atorlain the Elf’s forged a bond with nature and forged a steady alliance with the forest spirits, discovering that the deepwood was in fact intertwined with the Fey wild and could be used as a means of travel. During this time Lasindril visited the woodland realms many times in an attempt to strengthen the bonds between both parties.
The Woodland realms did accept Lasindril and even the forest spirits did recognise and accept her power but Lasindril knew well that both realms could never be the same and she both respected it and was sure to stress that fact to the High Elves.
Nevertheless talks of an alliance between the Wood and High Elves, an overarching alliance that would allow both sides to assist one another was speculated but Lasindril thought that doing so would provoke the Empire’s wrath. This was not helped by the fact the Wood Elves raided and attacked settlements near their realm which refused to submit in an effort to expand the forest. The High Elves were not innocent either, an Imperial fleet from Cadmir was sunk when it ventured too close to the Aurion Isles and ignored warning with a retaliatory raid launched against Cadmir which saw hundreds of humans killed. Following the Elenfall crisis however, Lasindril realised that perhaps an alliance was possible.
A war would soon beset the Elves,it would not be the Empire but against an ancient foe that the Elves had only just realised. Ilthid or Mindflayers had long plotted the fall of Elvenkind and now struck against the Elves hoping to use surprise to their advantage. The shock of the war caused major losses of the Elf side with many settlements in the deepwood destroyed and a city on Laedrilion was raised. Worst, Lasindril had been in the deepwood and only a staunch defence by her guards and the wood elves aided by fey creatures and mighty tree man drove the Ilthid attempt to decapitate Elven leadership. However soon the Ilthid found many of their standard tactics of war ineffective against the Elves who possess an innate resistance to mind control effects. Thus as Lasindril organised a defence. The Elves of the Dominion dealt crushing blows against the Ilthid across both the deepwood and the Aurion Isles, focing the Ilthid to flee into the shadows of the world.
Lasindril during one of her visits came across a wood elf druid named Galbridon who she had asked for him to tour her around the deepwood. Lasindril and Galbridon over nearly a hundred years soon grew feelings but it was in the Ilthid attack in the deepwood of Laurolen did they finally agree to marry. Both would survive and eventually marry, unifying both Elven factions. They would eventually have seven children, four female, and three male.
Soo began talks on the creation of the Faisuran Dominion, it’s name originated from an ancient word in elvish which roughly meant harmony, peace, friendship and alliance. While some had suggested it be named after Lasindril for she had forged the alliance, she declined, saying it was not her place.
Yet immediately the response from the Empire was deafening. The alliance was negotiated in Laurolen and sealed in Ulthrion but a few select ambassadors from the Empire and the Coalition had been invited. Yet the Imperial ambassadors have attempted to poison Lasindril but the Maidens of the Phoenix, the guard of the queen herself saw through it and thwarted it though none was made out of it. Yet immediately, Lasindril began to prepare for war.
The Empire had grown angry especially at the Wood Elves for they had been a constant nuisance against the Empire and had occupied what many had called valuable farmland. Thus they began to plot to strike Atorlian and Laurolen. Such plots and schemes had not gone unnoticed by the developing network of dominion spies and agents who began to track and report Imperial movements and plans. Thus so did the Domimion ready itself for war.
The Imperial’s struck the Wood Elven realms of Laurolen and Atorlian hoping to catch them by surprise. Yet forewarned, the deepwood’s defenders had abandoned their known outer settlement and defences with scant resistance instead hitting and fleeing deeper into the forest. Imperial army after Imperial army that advanced too deep were ambushed, isolated and utterly destroyed by the Wood Elves with minimal losses.
Lasindril immediately launched offensives into Imperial territory to come to the aid of the their. High Elven vessels attacked Cadmir, Rodan and Naskrim in retaliation sinking ships and launching ground attcks against Rodan and Naskrim. The action forced much of the Imperial reinforcements to fight in the deepwood to defend their lands. The war was a true test of the nearly reformed military, especially of that of the High Elves.
Battles erupted as the Elves took Naskrim and Rodan port cities, demanding the Empire unconditionally withdraw from the deepwood. The Imperial’s had mistakenly underestimated the High Elves and suffered grevious loses in the opening battle. The High Elves were not without fault, their inexperience and slight overconfidence saw the siege of Ildoriel go against the Elves. Only timely assistance from dragons and the dodged determination of the Elves led by Princess Alesia, a childhood friend of Lasindril herself managed to win the battle albeit at great cost with almost half her army wounded or killed and three dragon lost to the Elves with the princess herself gravely wounded during the fighting. Following this Queen Lasindril was so shocked and ordered that withdrawal was preferable to heavy losses. At the battle of the bloodied meadows Naskrim forces led by Ormund Darton battled against Dominion forces for four hours. A Naskrim cavalry charge had crippled the Elven forces and Prince Valedor, knowing victory would come at great cost ordered a withdrawal with himself captured while gravely wounded as he was fighting a rearguard action. The defeat was severe but casualties among the Elves was minimal. A counter attack led by Lasindril herself saw the capital of Naskrim threatened and Talmon under siege. With that Naskrim agreed to peace terms with the withdrawal of all Elven forces from Naskrim in exchange for all prisoners and a promise to never intrude on the deepwood and concession for land given to the wood Elves. The Empire eventually agreed to similar terms after a Cadmir naval counterattack failed and the Empire realised that following a different discourse with Naskrim could threaten the Empire’s integrity.
The war had been won but losses had been severe on the Elves, especially the High Elves who took most of the losses. A total of up to five thousand elven lives were lost in the war and five dragons slain. Though any elves taken prisoner during the war were returned as part of the peace deal with the Elves taking great care to ensure none were left behind. The war had taught many valuable lessons to the Elves and strengthened the Dominion as a whole.
Trade reopened slowly but cautiously between both sides while trade flourished between the Dominion and the Coalition. With that the Dominion also began focusing much effort on taking the lessons of the war and restrengthening their military. The Elven navy had proven its strength but the Elven ground forces had many lessons to learn despite its impressive performance. Lasindril ensured that no overconfidence crept into their forces and that they continued to improve. Under Lasindril’s reign, the Elves grew stronger in power though many felt as if Lasindril had pushed the High Elves too far towards rigidness. Lasindril was staunch in the fact it was necessary to militarise the elves for them to survive, though under much pressure from many elves, she eventually allowed for the finer arts of the elves which most of which had been left aside following the sundering.
Then came the Baldrun Wars where mindflayers struck all over the Coalition. Despite being completely unaffected by the war, Lasindril immediately mobilised the Dominion armies. A large force of High Elves along with a smaller force of Wood Elves was deployed to assist the Coalition and drive the Mindflayers back. The assistance the Elves had gave left mixed feelings in the Coalition who some pride had been insulted for they did not require the help of Elvenkind. Lasindril was sure to ensure that they left as soon as the war was over and did not linger nor made demands. Some of the Dwarves were glad at the Elves arrival and some even threw banquets and celebrations in their honour and declared forgiveness even inviting Lasindril herself who did appear to accept their words, others however closed their gates, cursing the Elves for assisted them where their assistance was deemed not necessary. When the mindflayers were dealt with and the war came to an end, Lasindril brough the great armies of the Elves back to their homes. The Elves had suffered losses but had dealt significant blows against their hated foes.
With the end of the war, the Coalition fully opened up trade with the Dominion and trade prospered between both sides albeit with a hint of underlying tension. The Empire eventually had to yield to pressure from it’s kingdoms and eventually allow trade. Many among Elvenkind thought that this could be the beginning of an era of peace and prosperity. Yet Lasindril sensed something terrible was coming through her connection with Lirieneoix and kept of the Dominion’s forces and agents on high alert
Then whispers soon reached her ears from Dominion spies and agents that something was gathering, whispers that the barriers between the planes would be broken and the forces of Sogomere would break through. Lasindril immediately diverted all available resources to discover the full extent of the threat and readied the armies. Against the advice of many of her advisors, Lasindril decided to follow the words of her oldest daughter, Esthilia and send words of warning to the other kingdoms.
Their words fell on deaf ears as most did not take her seriously. In fact some even suspected that the Elves were lying in order to cause a diversion. Others however used the Elves words and suspicion to confirm what many religious and arcane orders have begun to suspect.
When the crisis begin, the Elves both of the deepwood and aurion isles were ready. Lacking any cultist, the forces of Sogomere struggled to make a foothold in both areas. Counterattacks launched by Dominion forces easily crushed the demons send through and Elven mages and druids shut the tear in the material plane within weeks of their establishment albeit with some losses and damages. Lasindril however cunningly knew that the war was a prime opportunity to strengthen the Dominion and send out word to the many kingdoms that the Dominion would come to the assistance of those who joined them.
She then turned her attention to the island of Naskmoth which was besieged by demons, Lasindril immediately gathered a sizable force of Dominion forces and personally led to relieve the beleaguered Tabaxi. The Tabaxi had always had a cordial relationship with the Elves and had always traded freely but had been warry to stay out of the Dominion. When Lasindril led Elven host arrived on Naksmoth, tha tune changed. Lasindril and her Elven force would spend nearly two months in a brutal campaign destroying the demonic invaders and shutting the portals but had lost more than a thousand lives in the process. Yet their loses had gained them a new ally in the Tabaxi.
The kingdoms of Ithiskar lacking Imperial assistance turned to the Dominion for aid and the Dominion came. With their aid the demons were driven back and Ilthiskar was the first human kingdom to join the Dominion. Elements of Naskrim and Illuskan also requested Dominion aid but were far more unwilling to join the Dominion thanks to internal political conflicts and their greater importance to the Empire. Lasindril knowing that the war with the Empire was not preferable with the Dominion stretched too thin, did not demand either kingdoms to join instead came to their aid with only their gratitude as thanks. Lasindril was happy enough for that knowing that with time both could be swayed to their side.
Following the crisis of the far realms and the Kalinor wars, Lasindril realised that the Empire was in a weak position like never before and could be easily exploited. Immediately she began to prepare for a swift campaign to gain footholds in Imperial territory and the expansion of the Dominion. Though Lasindril preferred not to engage in open warfare if neccessary.
The choice would be forced upon her when Imperial vessels seized several Elven trading vessels along the coast of Rodan. Lasindril demanded they be released but in retaliation by some rash actions which some have suspected was due to Dominion espionage, Imperial warships attacked several Elven ships.
Immediately Lasindril declared war on the Empire and struck against Naskrim, Rodan, Cadmir and Illuskan. Calling upon their established allies, the Dominion forces came from all directions with unprepared Imperial forces crumbling under the onslaught. In Naskrim and Illuskan, Dominion forces were aided by local unprisings which gave way to swift Dominion victories and territory falling into Dominion hands. In Rodan and Cadmir, the dominion instead launched raids and strikes to capture key cities. When the first year of the war ended, Imperial forces had regrouped though their loses had been immense.
Thus Lasindril offered peace to the Empire, asking for joint ownerships over a few cities in Cadmir and Rodan but large swaths of territory in Illuskan and Naskrim. Eventually after weeks of negotiations, terms of peace were signed.
Culture
High and Wood Elven culture is different in many areas but at the same time share many similarities in certain areas and certain attitudes.
Elves have a unique view towards love and marriage, Elves are free to love who they wish and an unmarried Elf may often have multiple lovers. Yet for a married Elf adultery is a concept nearly unthinkable. Elves often marry for life and remarrying is essentially an alien concept. However over the years, Elves have become open to remarrying but only if their partner is of a non-elf. This was placed to counter the imperial edict of forcing Elves under imperial rule to marry non- elves following the shattering of the elves.
Elves are a race that heavily believe in the wisdom of the elders, for Elves often live for long periods of time. An interesting observation is that Elves even as they grow old do not seem as resistent to change as some of the elders of other races. This is likely due to the fact older Elves have seen how much has changed during their lifespan which takes up most of them they have existed as well as the fact Elves are often constantly learning in the field with little so called “retirement time”
Elves are often told to show and express their emotions. As such they rarely hide their emotions and often cry, laugh and have other outbursts of emotions sometimes randomly. While most Elves, especially as they grew old, do reign in their emotions, an expression of emotion especially around trusted ones is seen as a positive thing.
Elves are one of the most inquisitive and curious people of Allurian which has been attributed to their young nature. They are keen learners and eager but have a sense of patience thanks to their long lifespan. This often means they are very carefree but are fast and keen learners in areas that they should even the mildest of interest.
Elves love music and it is a key part of Elvish culture. Song is a common part of Elvish lives and those who can sing well are often sought after. Elves too love stories and often tell stories through song and dance. Magic is also a common theme among Elves who hold great love and almost an obsession towards magic, no doubt due to their patron god. Almost every Elf is a spellcaster of some level and magic is used in nearly every part of elvish life.
Elves also love food and wine but tend to consume both sparingly on most occasions and are known to treat both with a certain delicacy.
Eladari or High Elves
The High Elves are the more “disciplined” of the Elves. All High Elves are drilled from young of the importance of duty. Life amongst them is highly structured but surprisingly not rigid for even the High Elves still retain some of the carefree attitude natives to the Elves. Nevertheless, every High Elf is trained to serve their people in some capacity. This attitude has been developed due to the devastation caused by the shattering of the elves which has led to the belief that the high elves must be constantly vigilant and efficient to ensure that it would not repeat itself. They are as attuned to nature as their woodland kin albeit having placed a greater focus towards the arcane
Slyvorin or Wood Elves
Wood Elves are the more “wild” of the Elves. They are a contrast to their more stoic kind. Carefree, wild and unpredictable can describe the Wood Elves. There is a certain savagery in these Elves but nevertheless they retain the grace so often associated with Elves. The Slyvorin are fierce defenders of the deepwood realms in which they reside and can be sometimes brutal to those who threaten their way of life. They have formed a deep pact with the tree and fey spirits of the deepwood, giving them an alliance like no other.
Notable locations
Aurion Isles
The Aurion Isles are the homeland of high elves and the birthplace of the Elven race. It is a chain of small islands. The Aurion Isles however is not some ordinary land, but a land of unmatched magical means. Magical wards placed there thousands of years before the Elves' existence had prevented its colonisation by any of the other races.
These wards were eventually removed by the Elves when they expanded out of their cradle only for these to be hastily reinstated when the second elven war reached it’s end. The isles itself is called a paradise with it’s endless flora and fauna and almost non-existent monsters. However, the island houses many dark secrets for it was once inhabited by the Varduin and many of it’s remnants still remain which the Elves now build many of their structures over.
The Isles defences are incredibly formidable, with two fold defences. A mix of both ancient fey and divine magic and modern elvish arcane and defences. The first perimeter is an arcane fog that confuses and blinds most ships that attempt to enter. Then a mix of arcane wards along with the elvish fleet guard the shores that prevent any naval incursion. The Elvish Sea Guard are some of its most numerous warriors and tirelessly guard its costal borders. Along with arcane wards, penetrating its costal defences is near impossible.
A network of defences known as the Prism defence network was finished during the end of Lasindril reign. This network of arcane defences allows for near instant teleportation of elvish rapid response forces, along with capable of delivering devastating arcane strikes anywhere on or near the Aurion isles in case of attack. These prism cannon weaponise the arcane itself. This network is maintained by hundreds of archmages and mages. It combines elvish magic along with those from the feywild and the divine that power this island.
Then come the elvish dragons that jointly protect the island, and often work with elvish forces if necessary.
R
The Deepwoods
The deepwoods are one of the most mysterious location to all but the Elves. They are reserves of magical forest created by Arilorin since the earliest days of the world. It is said that these areas are bridges between the feywild and the material plane. The deepwoods are the largest collection of forest in Allurian and they are not mere forest. Their feywild roots are clear for all to see, the very forest is alive and linked with its own consciousness linked to Arilorin, goddess of nature. The Elves that settled there have established a deep bond with its creatures and wildlife, vowing to live in harmony with it.
The deepwood is nigh impenetrable to those hostile to it. Armies of men, dwarves and even demons have tried and failed. The terrain shift’s at the very forest’s consciousness, making large army movements impossible.
