Githyanki are a race who reside in isolated corners of Allurian and the astral plane. It is rumoured they descended from Eldarin of the Feywild who refused to or turned away the offers of Lirineoix and Airlorin to become Elves instead falling to Ilhal. They are a proud, disciplined race,who launch lightning raids on the mortal realms for plunder and slaves. The great city of the Tu’nareth sits in the astral plane where many of the Githyanki reside but they hold many areas in the unexplored parts of Allurian. The city of Sil’zueal lies in Esonia is the only city in which it is not regarded as hostile and accepts trade. The Githyanki have many clans who all hold differing views, those in Sil’zueal are more welcome and embrace trade while others prefer to raid and pillage. Thus Githyanki are treated with suspicion and scorn in most places if not outright banned. It is once believed Ilhal had the mindflayers enslave the Githyanki as a means to replace them in the astral plane and had nearly crippled their civilisation, yet the Githyanki rebelled and resisted with assistance from some of the gods with Tu’nareth holding back any attacks from the mind flayers. Tu’narteh comes under constant raids by mindflayers yet none have breached the city Githyanki are unbelievably arrogant and see most races as their lesser who should be subservient to them as a reward for the Githyanki tireless defence against the mindflayers. They have a complicated relationship with Elves, both share similar ancestry but with vastly different history. Despite their common hated enemy, the Githyanki disliked Elves for having been untouched by darkness and having an “easier” time.
